Hello everyone! I'm Jackie. I'm a watercolor artist based near Seattle, Washington.
Creativity was woven into my childhood. My mom always had a craft project going, and making things with our hands was just part of everyday life. I first dipped into the world of art through polymer clay, but it wasn't until junior high, when I took my first formal art classes, that I truly fell in love. Pencil sketching captured my imagination, and I was hooked.
Later, I pursued a different kind of creativity at MIT, where I majored in Mechanical Engineering and earned a Master's in Manufacturing. During those years, my artistic energy was channeled into free-body diagrams and conceptual sketches for engineering projects. After grad school, I started my career as a Manufacturing Engineer and Product Design Engineer. Life got busy, and art quietly slipped into the background.
Then in 2019, I made a promise to myself: one piece of art every week for a year. It was harder than I expected, especially deciding what to create, but that challenge reignited my passion. Watercolor quickly stood out as a medium I wanted to explore. I started following YouTube tutorials, especially those from Let's Make Art, and found immense joy in the process. Those tutorials taught me so much and gave me the confidence to begin creating original pieces.
Since then, art has become a meaningful part of my life again. My friends, family, and coworkers have been incredibly supportive, patiently listening to me gush about paints and projects. Generously offering their pets to be models for my work. And I'm especially grateful to my amazing husband Matt, whose encouragement, thoughtful feedback, and help building this website have meant the world.
